Product Development

Sourcing

Because we are feet on the street at the trade shows where your products are sold, we are able to keep abreast of the emerging trends and technologies in materials. And, because of the variety of projects we work on, we also have the opportunity to evaluate the suitability of these new materials as well as finding alternate sources when it comes time for production.

Studio 9 Apparel maintains a library of fabric bunches, swatches, shade cards and samples from top suppliers in several categories, ranging:

  • Technical/Performance Fabrics,
  • Fine Wool Suitings,
  • Fine Cotton Shirtings,
  • Label Manufacturers,
  • Hardware Suppliers,
  • Button Manufacturers,
  • Dye Houses,
  • Custom Knitters (i.e. fabric on rolls),
  • Elastic Manufacturers,
  • Etc.

Pattern Making Services

Patterns are typically created by hand using traditional pattern making and draping methods and are then digitized and graded using OptiTex PDS. Studio 9 Apparel also has the capability to convert your pattern and marker files from most other CAD system formats (i.e. Gerber, Lectra, Investronica, PAD) and can supply either soft- or hard-copy markers to your contractors.

  • Hard Patterns (i.e. oaktag, manila),
  • CAD Patterns,
  • Digitizing,
  • Grading; and
  • Markers (with match stripe & motif placement capabilities)

Sample Sewing

Studio 9 Apparel offers several options for sample sewing services. While we prefer to sew the patterns we make, we will occasionally accept patterns from outside facilities. We do require that outside patterns are audited by Studio 9 Apparel for integrity, sew-ability and suitability before we will accept a project.

  • Prototype Garments (garments sewn from unproven patterns),
  • Duplicates (garments sewn from proven patterns),
  • Print/Editorial Samples; and,
